The Launch of Soliciting of Canadian Companies for ChinaSoft 2008

Release Date: Oct 23, 2007

On Oct 23, 2007, the Canada China Business Council and Montreal Digital China Programme of Canada paid a visit to the organising committee of ChinaSoft 2008. Both sides had detailed communication on inviting Canadian companies of digital entertainment to attend ChinaSoft 2008.
Canada has gathered a rendezvous of multimedia software companies. WIRE claimed that 80% of the world’s special effects and animation software originated from Canada. Montreal’s software industry, especially digital entertainment technology, plays a leading role in the world. Montreal, known as one of topnotch video game bases across the world and one of key partners of Hollywood movies, is in possession of an army of prestigious digital media enterprises, in particular its digital special effects enjoy a worldwide reputation. Softimage takes the lead in designing 3D animation and special effects software specially applied for movies and games, by which Jurassic Park, Star Wars, and Titanic were produced.
Canada’s software industry is densely distributed at the triangle of Vancouver, Calgary, Ottawa, Toronto, and Montreal. In close collaboration with equipment manufacturing, aviation & airspace, and telecommunication sectors, it is not only for software design but for system integration, for instance, the presence of Nortel and RIM is remarkable visible in the planet.
Montreal ranks the 8th in North America in respects of job opportunities in information and communication fields as a raft of multinational companies have their affiliations in the city, including Electronic Arts, Activision, and VMC Labs from US, Ubisoft and Gameloft from France, and Edios and Babel Media from UK etc.
Canadian Consulate General in Chongqing, the Government of Quebec, Canada China Business Council, and Montreal Digital China Programme have always given prominence to driving forward Sino-Canada cooperation in digital entertainment by making full play of ChinaSoft 2008 and will proactively organise relevant companies to attend the event.
